The Pre-Y classes are only 45 minutes long, designed to keep small and active learners engaged in the course activities. There are small Hands-On manipulative picture cards that are passed out to each individual student, enabling them to interact with the material for more effective learning. Students learn to listen to the teacher's instruction and respond with physical actions. This process, called Total Physical Response, enables all students to be engaged in the language learning process. The young Pre-Y students also come to the center of the classroom to sing songs learned or act out new words. It is amazing to see these young, energetic students acquire the English language while having fun!
Each Pre-Y book also includes a value, such as honesty, that can be incorporated in to the class at any teachable moment. The local teachers can use the native language to transfer these values to the children.
